Save money and time by doing your own drywall repair

October 21, 2022

Drywall repair is not a difficult task and can be completed in a relatively short amount of time. By doing the repair yourself, you can save both money and time.

Materials needed for drywall repair are easily found at your local home improvement store. For a small repair, you will need a piece of drywall, joint compound, a putty knife, and sandpaper. Larger repairs may require a drywall saw and other tools.

To begin, cut the damaged drywall out using a drywall saw. Cut along the edges of the damaged area, being careful not to cut into any surrounding studs. Once the damaged drywall is removed, use a putty knife to apply joint compound to the edges of the hole.

Next, place a piece of drywall over the hole and secure it in place with drywall screws. Be sure to use screws that are long enough to penetrate through the drywall and into the studs. Apply joint compound to the edges of the drywall, using a putty knife.

Finally, sand the area smooth and paint over the repaired area. By following these simple steps, you can easily repair your drywall and save both money and time.
